Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Molt ("we", "us", "our") is a web application available at trymolt.xyz that helps users identify active subscriptions, manage newsletters, and find savings opportunities. Molt is operated by Matteo Bonardi, Bologna, Italy.

2. What data we access

When you connect your Google account, Molt requests access to the following data only:

• Email metadata only — sender address, subject line, date, and read/unread status. We never access, read, or store the body content of your emails.
• Your email address — used solely to identify your account within Molt.

We use the Gmail API scope gmail.metadata which is explicitly limited to metadata and does not permit access to email content.

3. What we do NOT access

• We never read the content or body of your emails
• We never access your contacts
• We never access your Google Drive or any other Google service
• We never store your Google credentials or OAuth tokens on our servers
• We never sell your data to third parties

4. Bank statements

If you choose to upload a bank statement (PDF or CSV), the file is processed entirely within your browser. It is never uploaded to or stored on our servers. All processing happens locally on your device.

5. How we use your data

The metadata we access is used exclusively to:

• Identify active subscriptions based on sender patterns
• Identify newsletters and their read frequency
• Generate your personal dashboard within the app

6. Data storage

At this stage of development, all data is stored locally in your browser (localStorage). No personal data is transmitted to or stored on external servers.

7. Third party services

Molt uses Google OAuth 2.0 for authentication. Your use of Google services is governed by Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

8. Your rights (GDPR)

As a user based in the European Union, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@trymolt.xyz.
